Take and correct attendance
Record a dancer’s attendance and check the saved result when your role allows it.

What you’ll accomplish
Mark a dated class roster, save work in progress, and finalize the session when it is ready. If a finalized status is wrong, use the separate correction process when your role allows it so the studio can see what changed and why.
02 · Prepare
Before you begin
- Confirm the class and calendar date. Attendance belongs to one occurrence of a class; another week’s roster is a different record even when the class name is the same.
- Know your studio’s definitions of Present, Absent, Late, and Excused. If a reason is unclear, ask the teacher or manager before choosing a status.
- Check your access. Viewing a roster, marking an open roster, and correcting a finalized roster are different permissions. Only confirmed enrollments appear on the attendance roster; waitlisted dancers are excluded.
03 · Workflow
Step by step
Open the class and date
Choose Attendance, or use Open attendance beside the session in Schedule. Where the attendance page offers Class and Date fields, select both and choose Open roster. Read the class name, date, schedule, and location on the selected occurrence card before touching a status. Choose an existing occurrence card if it is already listed.
Check the roster and its state
Compare the names with the confirmed dancers for this session. Read whether the roster is Open or Finalized. An open roster can be marked by authorized staff; a finalized roster needs correction access. If a dancer is missing, check enrollment with the front desk rather than marking another dancer or assuming a waitlist entry is confirmed.
Mark each dancer’s attendance
On the dancer’s row, select Present, Absent, Late, or Excused. For example, to mark a dancer absent, find that dancer on the correct dated roster and choose Absent. Review the selected status on each row and the summary counts. The Unsaved changes badge means your selections have not yet been confirmed as saved.
Use Save progress while the roster is open
Choose Save progress to record the statuses entered so far while keeping the roster open. This is useful when you need to pause or are still waiting to resolve another dancer’s status. Wait for Attendance progress saved and check that Unsaved changes clears. Saving progress does not finalize the roster or mean every dancer has been marked.
What to expect: Your entered statuses are saved, and the roster remains Open for the remaining work.
Review unresolved dancers before finalizing
Check the Marked total and any still unmarked count. Revisit each unresolved row and choose the appropriate status using the studio’s policy. If your studio requires a complete roster, finalization stops at the first unmarked dancer. Some studios explicitly allow finalization with unmarked entries; follow the policy message on the page rather than guessing.
Choose Finalize roster when the session is ready
Select Finalize roster after reviewing the class, date, names, and statuses. Wait for Attendance is finalized and confirm the occurrence now says Finalized. Finalization is a separate action from Save progress. Once the roster is finalized, further changes use the correction controls and may require a manager or another authorized colleague.
Correct a finalized status with a reason
If you have correction access, select the finalized occurrence and change only the incorrect dancer statuses. Enter a clear Correction reason, such as the factual reason a Late status is replacing Absent. The explanation should identify the correction without unnecessary personal information. Save correction is unavailable until a status has changed and a reason has been entered.
Save the correction and check its history
Choose Save correction and wait for The attendance correction is recorded. Recheck the corrected status and the Correction history section for the recorded reason and time. If the latest roster changed while you worked, use Reload latest roster when offered, review the current values, and then make only the correction still needed.
What to expect: The finalized record shows the intended statuses and the correction has an explanation in its history.
04 · Check
If something does not look right
Finalize roster asks you to mark every dancer.
The studio requires a complete roster. Read the named unresolved dancer, review that row, and select the correct status. Check the remaining unmarked count before trying again. Do not select Present for everyone just to complete the form; an unresolved attendance question should go to the teacher or manager.
You cannot correct a saved status.
First check whether the roster is Open or Finalized. An open roster uses status selections and Save progress; a finalized roster uses Correction reason and Save correction. If the correction controls are absent, send the class, date, dancer, intended status, and factual reason to someone with correction access.
The page says the roster has changed.
Use Reload latest roster when it appears. This reloads saved values and clears your unsaved selections, so read the current roster carefully before entering any remaining change. If the connection failed, wait until it returns and check the result before repeating the action. Ask a manager if two staff members are making conflicting corrections.
